The situation
Several data sheets per proposal, none of them in a system
Each pump proposal needed several engineering data sheets, and they lived as Word and Excel documents.
- Values re-keyed by hand from the selection tool into each sheet.
- Images pasted wherever they fit.
- Finding last year's sheet for a similar pump meant knowing who had it.
- Comma decimals slipping through: European number formats had been silently inflating values.
What we built
One structured form per sheet, driven by configuration
A web platform where each sheet is a structured form. Fields, sections and templates live in the database, so a new sheet type is data, not a rewrite.
- Draft-to-published revisions, share links and a preview mode.
- Search across every historical sheet.
- Paste-in import from the selection tool: locale-aware number parsing, plus engineering cross-checks (power balance within 10%, rated head against the curve within 5%).
- One-click PDFs; a typical sheet went from three pages to two.
- Release notes without a deployment, posted from an admin screen; high-contrast and large-text modes built from user feedback.
